I have recently made a couple of hero-quest style furniture. Originally, I want to sell them. But then I found that their quality may not be up to the standard of most of the furniture sets available commercially. So in the end I just decided to share them out for free.
Hope you like them!

this is very helpful for us DMs and players...THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your work, sir. If it's not too brazen of me, I'd love to make a request. A Monsterous Door something akin to this: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Trap_Door_(Final_Fantasy_IV)
ReplyDeleteOr this: http://chrono.wikia.com/wiki/PortalGheist
Even if you decide you can't do this model, keep up the good work. DMs with empty wallets thank you.
I can't believe this is free. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have an image of the completed models of Page 5. That would be helpful, so we could know what the intended finished product is.

ReplyDeletedocryder, they're simple models on page 5. There is a pyramid, an obelisk, and 2 3 sided crystals or 1 6 sided crystal. I built the obelisk earlier. It's a straight forward assembly.
ReplyDeleteI made the podium so the book can be removed. I put sheet magnets under the table and in the book.
ReplyDeleteI was able to connect the skull column to the base using all tab and slot construction. A bamboo skewer helped.
Eddnic, if this is all your art, you are ready to go pro. Just keep notes on the beta build, and then go back and fix the little errors. If you pay more attention to alignment, you can solve a lot. It would be nice if these pieces, especially the fireplace, had bases. They can be as big as the models' bases so they don't add to the size. Also, the pros don't like to repeat a pattern or element. If they do, they alter it so it's hard to tell it's the same.
Thanks again!
I'm making cutfiles for some of these pages (over on cardboard-warriors.proboards.com) but I'm not sure how to build the green fireplace on page 7 - how are you cutting the wall to get the 3d effect for the fire?
ReplyDeleteThe back wall folds up. You'll need to trim a little off the back wall so the top of the fireplace will fold over. Rub a pencil on the inside walls so they're not so bright. Score the back of the fire piece so the green tiles fold forward. Glue the tiles to the sides so they are flush in the front corners. If you're bored, you can turn the PDF into a BMP so you can center the fire.
DeleteThe candles for the podium didn't line up for me. There is little room for error on such skinny art. They would be better if one side were just strips of color. I made some candles out of silvery plastic beads and painted tooth picks.
For the podium, you'll want to allow for tabs on the bottom to attach it to the base. I cut out the tabs from the base and folded them up. If you do this, know that the white space on the base is smaller than the podium.
Thanks again for all of your comments, in particular Androidlove's valuable advice and Randy Farmer's cut files! I have got some problems with my PC after uploading the models and cannot post reply in my blog for the last few days.
ReplyDeleteRegarding page 5, yes I will take some photos for the finished products, but as Androidlove rightly pointed out, they are quite straightforward to build. Just one note: the obelisk is supposed to be stackable during storage.
Also, my original design for the bookshelves, fireplace and cupboards, etc, is to make them collapseable so that they could store flat and save storage space. To do so, the tab for the top part of the box should not be glued.
One more design feature: the pendulum on page 2 may swing if it is put on the rack without using glue.
Thank you so much for these. They are awesome! I hope to use them in my game; if I do, I'll post pics and link back here. Thanks again!

ReplyDeleteIt's asking me to log in to download?...no deal. As someone who has used Anon FTP for years I don't see that as necessary.
ReplyDeleteMan, this is SO AWESOME! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the table with the orin symbol. I am a heroquest junkie and it is cool to see something done to kind of update the old stuff. I did find the skulls in the fountain to be quirky to cut and assemble and the saw table was a cluster f... not fun LOL But all in all this is good work. I have done a lot of worldworks stuff and so on, so I feel that I can give this a fair review. This is well done. And free to boot. Great work!
