Hero-quest style furniture for your dungeon

I have recently made a couple of hero-quest style furniture.  Originally, I want to sell them.  But then I found that their quality may not be up to the standard of most of the furniture sets available commercially.  So in the end I just decided to share them out for free.

May of the Dead - series two

May of the Dead

Inevitables

The inevitables are a group of constructs which enforce some aspects of universal laws, and I find their design pretty cool!  So, I end up making almost all of them, 5 from D&D and 2 from Pathfinder.  They are now available at the following links:

Long time no update!

Ok, this time I have another dragon to offer - the diabolical red dragon, perfect boss for many campaigns!

Also, there are two other figures, namely beastman and werewolf.  These two figures were released in Onemonk's forum and they are now collected here for the sake of completeness.

Also, thanks for all of you who have left message here in my blog.  For some strange technical reason, I still have not figured out the way to reply in my own blog.  Anyway, thanks for your support, and here comes some of my response to questions raised:

1) Tutorial for making NPCs or other figures.

Well, it would be useful to have such tutorial.  However, I am not good at writing and for the time being, I am afraid I cannot come up with anything very useful to help you.  Anyway, I think if you want to make your own NPC, you can modify my models such as change colour, swap body parts and weapons.  With more modification experience, you can start changing the face, weapon and armours by cropping from fantasy pictures, etc.

2) Building instruction

Again, this would be essential, but I am afraid I cannot produce something useful shortly.  However, here are some advice for building small figures (this was extracted from my message on Onemonk's forum):

• Due to the small scale you are going to work at, you would need tools to do the folding as our fingers are simply too large for such tasks. A pair of tweezer will help a lot! It will also help in gluing small parts together.
• A cutting mat is the second tools that I would recommend. It will help to make precision cutting much easier. Scissors are good for curves, but for small parts, cutters with cutting mat will make cutting much more precise and easy.
• Also, I found that for small figures (i.e. human size or smaller), building them in cardboards does not make them stronger, and they are much more difficult to work with. I would prefer thinner paper, or even ordinary paper.

2.5d characters and NPCs

Well, I think I have created quite a lot of monsters!  It is time for me to make a few characters and NPCs.  All of the figures in this set are 2.5d and they require minimal glueing.  You only need to glue the cloak for the wizard and thief.  They are now available at:

This is a modification of an earlier attempt to make a white dragon.  New textures and colour have been applied to make this blue dragon.

A few more strange monsters...

This release contains two more golems (wood and ice) and one large piece (cyclop).  Also, some rather strange creatures, such as the cherub from the Doom game, and the finger mage from Diablo 2, are included.  Two DnD creatures, xorn and roper, also appear in this series and they should find good use in cavern encounters.  Finally, a psychic elemental, a being of chaotic psychic energy, also makes it way to the prime plane.

Actually, it is from Scarecrow's Elder Thing paper model on Onemonk's forum.  The model is available at:

The Elder Thing is the first 3d paper model I have ever built and it is still gracing my bookshelf.  To match with this very first model, I have used the base for my subsequent projects. 

Building notes for Air Elemental

The air elemental is made of two parts, the upper stormy cone and the lower cylinderical body.

The upper cone is formed from two cones (the circular discs), one with texture inside and one with outside.  Then the two cones are glued together to form the upper part.  Finally, a few cuts (less than 1/3 of the cone's radius) are made along the white stormy lines to make the storm more life-like.

The lower part is basically a cylinder with the upper side bigger than the lower side.  Then apply glue to the edge of the upper side and glue the upper cone to it.  Finally, apply glue on the lower edge of the cylinder and mount the model to a base.  Enjoy!
